At Houston Pecan Company, we are committed to selling the highest quality nuts, seeds and dried fruit. We roast on the premises in small batches. Our mixes are delicious! We have products from across the United States and from around the world. Whether you are buying for baking, snacking or gift giving we promise that everything is delicious and fresh! Our Story

Our story begins in 1942, in a little building on Elysian Street when Noe Groner came as a refugee from Vienna and began shelling pecans. In 1962, Leon Cooper began his life long career with Houston Pecan Company; his wife Shirley came on board in the ‘70’s. Their daughter Tobi joined in 2004. That means many years of nuts, fruits and mixes! Mr. Cooper passed away in May, 2015. While we miss his leadership and his jokes, his insistence on quality and customer service remain an important part of who we are. Leon Cooper was born Leib Kupczyk in Poland. In 1942, 13-year-old Leon and his family, along with all other Jews in their village, were deported or killed by the Nazis. He was taken to the first of several concentration camps, each worse than the next. After several months, he was taken to work in the factory owned by Oskar Schindler, where he worked for about a year. Liberated in 1945, Leon was the only member of his family to survive. He spoke to thousands of students about his experiences and his story resonates today. He taught so many that we must always treat everyone with respect, and speak out against hatred and bigotry.
